In space you had to rely on those around you not only to succeed but to survive. Taking time to get to know your comrades in community events was, to Reneé, something that just made sense. After all she was going to spend a lot of time working with the crew of the Indefatigable and for some reason she felt like she was still making first impressions. Besides, it was a time to get together with family. Right now this was Reneé's family. Christmas was less about material possession in the 24th Century and more about enjoying the company of those close to you.

Holodeck one had been decorated in accordance with the historic texts of Christmas which had made Reneé's head spin in confusion. There was tinsel everywhere for starters, not to mention a tree which looked to be suffering underneath the weight of bobbles and a massive star. Some of the crew were already present in casual uniform and Reneé had decided to put down the red duty shirt for a while and don something more relaxed.

In a green dress and equally green heels with a santa hat someone had managed to find the commanding officer. Or at least someone managed to replicate one. Rumour mill had worked overtime about the party and overly eager crew members had obviously worked towards putting their efforts the big night. There was a buffet of all different cusines from traditional Earth food for Christmas to alien dishes. No one could convince Reneé to try anything from the Klingon section though.

No one had told her she had Klingon crew members. Maybe she didn't and someone had a fondness for worms.

The doors to the Holodeck opened up and Richard walked in he was excited to get a chance to unwind and enjoy some downtime with the crew. He spared no expense dressed in a Navy pinstriped three piece suit. As we walked in he scanned the room it was perfect when he had found out about this he had the operations team make the hall to match the lobby at the Palmer House a historically famous hotel in his home town of Chicago. From the ornate gold colored columns to the intricate pantings on the ceiling. As he looked over the guests he saw a very attractive women across the room in a stunning green dress at the buffet. Richard thought to himself game.... As the women turned to reveal it was the Captain. Richards waved and headed over.

"Great turn out so far, how is the food?" Richard greeted trying to get past how stunning his CO looked in civi cloths.

When Danny Sullivan arrived the party was already in full swing. No one told him it was casual and he was still in uniform. He quickly had the holodeck change him in a pair of dark slacks, a light blue shirt and a kind of gaudy festive tie with snowmen dancing on it. He glanced around the room making sure nobody was looking his way and snuck a long pull from his flask. As he took in all the decorations and merry making crew members he began to feel nostalgic for the Christmases he had back home in Boston. He found the Tac Officer and what appeared to be the CO at a table.

"You're allowed to drink as long as the only place you're going to doesn't consist of Engineering. Come over, officers don't bite."

"Dis pawty wash a good idea" He said around a mouthful of food.

Reneé smiled as she took one of the mince pies and then bit into it, chewing slowly. The process was repeated until the mince pie was no more and she managed to order another martini from the holographic bar tender to reward herself for a job well done on the matter.

Sullivan gave a big grin to the Tac Officer. "Thank you. It's so nice when officers appreciate what we have to go through as enlisted men. You are now in my list as a "smart officer". He smiled back at the CO. "And you as well Captain". He peered greedily back at food table and once again filled his plate. "Christmas is always my favorite holiday especially when we have a spread of food like this one" He opened his flask again and took a big swig. He twisted the cap back on and held it out in front of him "Jack Daniels anyone?"

A Very Indefatigable Christmas Empty Re: A Very Indefatigable Christmas

From the ornate gold colored columns to the intricate paintings on the ceiling.

"It's...living." she commented, pointing to the gagh with a pull of the face. "The drinks aren't so bad." added Reneé to Richard who lifted up a Martini glass who's only current occupant was a saturated olive that had been drenched in gin and vermouth. "I've put two of these away already since I've managed to finish my watch. Let's just say if you ever get to the captain's chair you'll want a couple of drinks yourself after a shift."

The blonde pinched the bridge of her nose and squeezed gently which was a sign that she was dressed, annoyed or a combination of both but she wasn't one to say which applied. Reneé caught Danny taking a hefty swig from a flask and shook her head, calling him over. "Y'know Chief." she said to him. "You're allowed to drink as long as the only place you're going to doesn't consist of Engineering. Come over, officers don't bite."

Danny smiled. "Oh I know that. I wasn't worried about officers biting me. More like I was worried about the gagh." He eyed the wiggling mass on the plate. "I never understood how people can eat that." He glanced over the table with a grin looking for something tasty and made a plate full of cheeses, meats, and two french dip sandwiches. "Dis pawty wash a good idea" He said around a mouthful of food.

For a moment Reneé didn't know if she should scowl the man for lack of manners or chuckle so instead she rewarded him with a smirk and a nod. "Well since we've all been working hard I figured we could all use a break, get to know one another and eat large amounts of replicated food in no descending order." Reneé smiled as she took one of the mince pies and then bit into it, chewing slowly. The process was repeated until the mince pie was no more and she managed to order another martini from the holographic bar tender to reward herself for a job well done on the matter.

The Holo Bartender looked at the rest of the group gathered. Richard didn't waste a minute "I would like a Scotch and water hold the water. Oh and none of the synthetic stuff reference my personal stash please any Glen will do." With that Richard turned to Chief Sullivan. "I have to admire your work ethic under the stresses we have faced you are the reason these big ships stay running so nice and we get promotions." As Richard was getting done the drinks arrived.

"Christmas is always my favorite holiday especially when we have a spread of food like this one" He opened his flask again and took a big swig. He twisted the cap back on and held it out in front of him "Jack Daniels anyone?"

A small whiff of the contents and Reneé's mind was already made up on the matter. She shook her head with a small smile as her mind worked on an excuse. "Uh. I wouldn't want to impose." was what she managed to say after some thought. "And I'm glad you managed to make it. Both of you. Never know when we'll get to do events like this so it'll be good for everyone to get to know one another...eat....dance...."

Her tone seemed to drift off as Reneé swore something from the Klingon section winked from a plate but she paid it no heed. Instead her heels clacked along the smooth floor as she walked closer to food of a more human origin and paid it heed. For some reason her appetite was for liquids rather than solid food but she didn't want to start packing them away early. Or at all. It never looked good when the captain was drunk and swaying in a chair somewhere.

Danny shrugged at the CO's refusal of a drink. "More for me I guess." He grabbed a bowl from the table and slopped a ladle full of stew into it. "You should try this beef stew. I made it myself from an old family recipe. The secret is Guiness". He dove his spoon into the bowl. "Delicious" he said to no one in particular. Somewhere a clock chimed and the crowd applauded. "Merry Christmas everyone!!!" Danny shouted over the clapping. He shook the Tac Officer's hand and one of the female petty officers ran over and gave him a big hug.
