Mission 1: Cold Front OOC Empty Mission 1: Cold Front OOC

Post by Reneé Lucas Tue Dec 18, 2012 8:00 am

Right for the benefit of any new crew let's explain what's going on in the mission. We were on patrol when a Breen warship attacked. It's a standard momentum building mission. We're badly damaged and pondering every option available to us to come out on top. We've moved site and already had an established mission and first season before we moved. Here is the quoted synopsis by our old CO.

Rena Markov wrote:
"Never turn your back on a Breen"
- A Romulan saying

Alright so here we go! In the Indefatigable's first mission she is assigned to patrol the Valoris Nebula, a contested area along the Breen Border (Map). The whole problem along the border started in 2385 when a subspace singularity caused the Nebula to rotate in relation to the Galactic Plane, placing several Breen Planets in Federation Space, and vice versa, resulting in the current border conflict we have today. In late 2386 the crisis rose to new levels of tension after a Breen assault on Roosevelt Station was repelled, but open warfare has thus far been avoided. In order to secure the border, Task Force 72's mission is stop the flow of supplies to Breen Systems in Federation Territory and "weed out" any other Breen presence. In 2387 with the Hobus Incident shifting everyone's attention to Romulan Space, the Breen have started to step up their own presence in the region as well.

So the basic idea behind the mission is pretty simple: While patrolling we run across a Breen Warship and enter battle. During the battle both ships take a beating, and drift into the Nebula which messes up sensors, making the fight much harder. During the fight we're also going to get bordered for extra fun. How we fight them off will depend on how we do our writing in character, but here's the general layout for what each department should be doing during the Fighting:

Command: Since our Beloved XO is a Marine, and a skilled ground fighter, Ms. Lucas will be in charge of the boarding action related posts, and deciding what everyone's doing in relation to that. Everyone involved with it will be answering to her. For the space battle portion, Fallon's going to be in charge and commanding the ship itself as we attempt to track down and destroy the Breen vessel. Out of Character there's going to be some coordination for what happens in character as well. For example: We would discuss Out Of Character, where weapons fire might hit, creating an obstacle for the Boarding Action group.

Flight Control: Piloting the ship through the Nebula, kind of simple in explanation, but a very large role in the story as well.

Strategic Operations: Our Strat Ops group is going to be involved with the boarding action, and will be involved heavily in the aftermath as we recover small bits of Breen tech that serve as the lead in for our next mission.

Security & Tactical: Security will be working with Boarding action, and Tactical will be working with the Space portion. Should we get a Chief for this department they will be involved with the Space Portion, so as to we don't have two people doing the same thing for the ground portion.

Operations: Operations will work with the Space group, allocating power and running the sensors, trying to get a clear lock on the Breen.

Engineering: Engineering will be doing Damage Control, and working with the Boarding action group, fighting through Breen to get to areas that need repair.

Science: Our Science department has a choice: They can either use their astrometrics knowledge to help us navigate the Nebula better, or they can analyze the Breen's personal weapons and try to develop something to counteract them.

Medical & Counseling: Medical's clearly going to be dealing with anyone injured by either the Breen Ships weapons fire, or the Breen who have boarded. Counseling's going to be doing sort of the same thing, dealing with the emotional fallout.

Diplomatic Corps: Our local diplomats are going to be trying to tell the Breen to stop attacking us, and some might also try to talk down any Breen on the ship as well.

Civilian Affairs: Panic. No seriously, the civilians should be scared, nervous, and all those other things you might be should an enemy renowned for its torture tactics and slave labor board the ship.

These roles aren't meant to pigeon hole anyone into doing something they want, they're just a general guideline, if there's something else you'd rather do, write on here what you have in mind, and we'll probably run with it Exclamation

Just a reminder that the time on a JP always stays the same as the first post. When you're posting, always quote the post before you, remove the quote tags and then type in your lot beneath there's. It saves me or anyone else posting the JP in the main mission thread from having to copy/paste posts into one massive JP.

Sew...after the JP we'll begin the boarding/space battle portion? After this mission we'll have an inter-mission...mission...thing at a space station where they'll be some changes as well as the obvious repairs we'll need to get.

And it's up. I'll get working on the boarding at some point but I think a relaxing wind down to the posting rate on the run up to the 25th would be good since most of us won't be here. Obviously the Xmas fun in the Holodeck will be there for anyone who wants to keep their writing fingers sharp.
